Beautiful Lloyd L. Thornton Stadium is located on Maryville College campus in Maryville, Tennessee beneath the iconic Smoky Mountains. Honaker field has been home of the Fighting Scots football team since the mid 1960s. Since then, Honaker field has been the home of many great games and memories, including hall of fame coach Bobby Bowden’s first career win as a head coach. The stadium holds roughly 3,000 seats but often surpasses that number and has been in the top 10 percent in attendance across the nation for DIII football. In 2001, thanks to generous donations from alumnus Don Story, the stadium was able to install brand new Bermuda turf. Shortly after in 2002, Thornton Stadium was remodeled so that access to restrooms and concessions were much more convenient. Honaker field always proves to host an exciting and intense environment while rooting for the Fighting Scots.
