The Maryville College baseball team was eliminated from the 2017 USA South baseball tournament in LaGrange, Georgia after Greensboro College posted six runs in the final three innings to out-pace the Scots 9-6 on Thursday evening.
Greensboro (23-16) tied the game in the fourth when Hunter Curtis singled through the left side sending Andrew Ray home.
The Scots regained their advantage in the bottom of the fourth taking advantage of a Greensboro miscue to score Joey Tomlinson.
The Pride posted a pair of unearned runs in the fifth giving them a 3-2 advantage.
Greensboro expanded their lead in the seventh when Brady Dignan singled to center field, scoring Zach Neumeister. Daniel Efird would plate the fifth Pride run following a Jimmy Short singled through the right side making the score 5-2.
Greensboro pulled away with a pair of unearned runs in the eighth and a two-RBI single by Brandon Soden scoring Brayden King and Jimmy Short.
The Scots late rally was fueled by a Bryce Redaya RBI single scoring Sam Jokerst, but Greensboro's Hunter Curtis closed the door for the Pride victory.
With a pair of late innings of relief, Greensboro's Cameron Whitson (2-1) earned the victory on the hill allowing three hits and one earned run.
