Maryville College Head Baseball Coach Cody Church has added a familiar face to his 2017-18 baseball squad. Logan Jenkins has joined the Scots' staff as an assistant coach.
Jenkins played a pair of seasons for Maryville after a standout career at Roane State Community College. The Seymour, Tennessee native roamed the outfield for MC while hitting .324 in 2015 and .351 in 2016. He earned USA South Honorable Mention All-Conference honors following his junior season.
"I am thrilled to be able to have a guy like Logan want to continue to be a part of our program," stated the Scots' skipper. "As a volunteer assistant last year, Logan was able to learn a lot about the coaching side after an outstanding playing career. With his experience, he was a guy that I viewed as someone who could make the transition seamlessly. To have a guy with his experience, work ethic, demeanor, and comfort with our program was ideal for filling this position. Our entire staff is thrilled to be able to get Logan back on staff moving forward."
In 80 career games with the Orange and Garnet, Logan hit .339 during his tenure with a .411 on-base percentage as a predominant leadoff hitter. He tallied 21 stolen bases and committed only three errors in over 125 total chances in the outfield.
Coach Jenkins will be assisting in the development of the outfielders and hitters during this upcoming season.
