Scots Sting Wasps, Win 1-0

Maryville's men's soccer team traveled to Emory, VA and defeated the Wasps of Emory & Henry by the score of 2-0 on Sunday afternoon.

The Scots struck early as David Lethco scored on a header on a corner kick from Conner McCarty. Maryville would take the 1-0 lead into halftime. The score would not change in the second half as Scots keeper Ben Munger turned away all four Wasps shots on goal. Maryville dominated the game, out shooting the Wasps 20 to 10 and attempting more corner kicks at 7 to 3.

"We did enough to win the game, but we had numerous opportunities to put the game away and were unable to," said head coach Pepe Fernandez. "The E & H keeper did a good job keeping the game where it was at, but we need to get a second goal to put the game away."

Maryville is now 1-1-1 on the year. The Scots open up USA South competition on Saturday when they host LaGrange. Game time is scheduled for 6:00 pm.
