Branford High's Frye brings talents to Maryville College

MacKenzie Frye, a senior at Branford High School, has committed to continue her education and collegiate softball career at Maryville College in Maryville, Tenn.

Frye, an O'Brien, Florida native, played her high school softball for the Buccaneers. This 5-foot-9 standout pitcher earned four varsity letters as a dominating pitcher. Mackenzie was named All-Area and the team's defensive player of the year on three occasions. She was the squad's MVP following her freshman campaign and also earned one All-State nod.

On the mound opponents hit only .216 against her throughout her career. In 334 career prep innings Frye sat down 363 via the strikeout. She was also very consistent in the field posting a career .956 fielding percentage.

Mackenzie was also a threat at the plate as a Buccaneer finishing her career with a .475 batting average and a dozen homeruns.

"MacKenzie is an exciting late addition to our freshman class," stated Maryville College Head Coach Leah Kelley. "She is an experienced pitcher and I look for her to make an immediate impact in our pitching staff. I am excited to see her develop into a dominating pitcher during her four years in the orange and garnet."

Mackenzie joins a program that has flourished the past two seasons under the direction of Head Coach Leah Kelley. She has taken the Scots to the USA South Athletic Conference semi-finals the past two years during the post-season league tournament. Under her guidance, Maryville is 61-61 overall since the 2014-2015 season and 32-32 in USA South challenges.
