The Maryville College women's soccer team overcame an early goal to remain unblemished in USA South play with a 4-1 victory over Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Georgia on Sunday afternoon.
Agnes Scott lit up the scoreboard on Gellerstedt Field within the first two minutes when Zoey Perchaluk posted her third goal of the season. Perchaluk stole a pass and shot past MC keeper Abbey Coleman.
The eventual game-winner came in the 16th minute. Sipos lofted a corner kick into the box and Lexi Hill placed a header past Scotties keeper Alyssa Bayus for her second goal of the season.
Maryville completed their first half of scoring in the 42nd minute when Savannah Lickel placed a crossing pass from the left to right to Emilie Boone. Boone dented the net with her second goal of the season to make the score 3-1 at the half.
The visiting Scots out-shot the Scotties 20-2 in the first period.
MC would continue their offensive attack in the second half, pushing shots toward the net 18 additional times.
Maryville's lone second-half goal came in the 88th minute when Bailey Sipos found freshman Zoe Van Hook with an assist. Van Hook took the offering and chipped an 18-yarder over the keeper for her second goal of the season.
MC's Abbey Coleman earned the victory in net after recording a save in a pair of shots on goal.
The victory moves Maryville to 6-4 on the season and 3-0 in USA South play. Agnes Scott falls to 3-6-1 and 0-3-0 in league action.
Maryville will now prepare to host USA South rival Covenant College on Wednesday, October 3rd at 7:00 p.m.
