Scots successful on "Senior Day" with 3-1 win over Oglethorpe

The Maryville College women's volleyball team pushed their match winning streak to five while honoring their three seniors with a 3-1 non-conference victory over Oglethorpe University on Tuesday evening.

 

The Scots dropped the first match 25-18 before claiming the final three sets by the scores of 25-15, 25-19, and 25-16.

 

Meredith Bonee posted a triple-double while Brianne Sidner finished with a double-double.

 

Sidner tallied 20 kills while returning a dozen digs. Bonee threw down 15 kills, dished out 15 assists, and added 12 digs.

 

The "Senior Day" win was a collective effort from a trio of dedicated VolleyScots.

 

Senior Taylor Youell directed the offense with a match-high 23 assists. Senior Yasmeen Chan paced the Scots with 15 digs. Senior Rachel Kozemko added three kills and a trio of digs.

 

Maryville's Arin Wyttenbach and Dejane Hester-Taylor each recorded seven kills while Saidee McDaniel collected 10 assists and nine digs to add to the win.

 

Oglethorpe (5-21) was paced at the net by Jacoby Sims' 12 kills.

 

To date, the Maryville seniors of Chan, Kozemko, and Youell have led the Scots to a 68-47 overall record winning 59% of all challenges including a 40-15 record within the USA South for a 73% winning percentage in league action.

 

Maryville (15-8) will conclude their regular season schedule on Friday, October 26 with a tri-match in the Boydson Baird Gymnasium. The Scots will host USA South foes Huntingdon and Piedmont. The tri-match will begin at 3:00 as the Scots challenge Huntingdon. The Piedmont match will begin at 7:00 p.m.
