Maryville College finished the first round of the Jekyll Island Intercollegiate on Friday, as the Scots ranked tied for 26th.
MC finished the first round of three with a first-round score of 312. The Scots sit tied with Millsaps College after 18 holes.
Following the opening round, Maryville's Tyler Bray leads the Orange and Garnet squad with a three-over 75. The sophomore ranks tied for 51st individually
Overall, Illinois Wesleyan and LaGrange College lead the tournament with an even-par 288 after 18 holes. Emory University ranks third with a one-over 289, while Huntingdon College and Hampden-Sydney College tied for fourth with matching two-over 290s.
Individually, North Carolina Wesleyan College's Mariano Silvestri and Grady Anderson are tied for the lead with LaGrange's Sam Rogers. The trio shot matching four-under par 68s, while seven other golfers rank tied for fourth at three-under.
Bray's performance was followed by Garrett Compliment and Wil Manuel who tied for 66th individually. The duo posted four-over 76s, as D.J. Shelton rounded out the scoring with an 85. Andy Cofer shot an 87 for the Scots on the afternoon.
Maryville will return for the second round of the Jekyll Island Collegiate on Saturday, March 16, before taking on the third round of the 54-hole tournament on Sunday, March 17.
