Scots Ready for New CCS Competition

2022 Schedule

MARYVILLE – Maryville Men's Soccer opens at home this fall as the team released a 16-match schedule for 2022.

The Scots hosts Sewanee on Sept. 1 and then Washington & Lee on Sept. 4, the first two of eight home dates. Maryville's first road tussles are a trip to Kentucky for the Centre Tournament on Sept. 9 and 11. Other nonconference opponents are Rhodes, Greensboro and Asbury at home, with Berry, Birmingham-Southern and Warren Wilson on the road.

This fall also marks the debut of the new Collegiate Conference of the South, which has all of the former members of the USA South's West Division – with the addition of Belhaven and the subtraction of Brevard. CCS play begins Sept. 24 at home against LaGrange.

"We're really excited about the new conference and the new conference schedule," Maryville head coach Pepe Fernandez said. "It's fun to have something a little different and we are looking forward to how all of that is going to play out.

"We've got some really good out-of-conference opponents with the men. Going to Centre's tournament, and we've got Washington & Lee coming here and they were 18-2-2 last year and made it all the way to the NCAA tournament semifinals. So that's a good tough schedule that will challenge us out of conference, and the conference schedule – even though there are some of the old opponents – it's all new for us and exciting to be with this group of teams."
