LaGRANGE, Ga. – Maryville absorbed a tough loss Saturday at LaGrange, falling 9-0 to the host Panthers.
Kyle Shaver and Cooper Newman put up a good fight at No. 1 doubles before falling 8-4. Shaver again was impressive in his No. 1 singles match, winning the first set 6-4 before falling 6-3 in the second set and 10-7 in the third-set tiebreaker.
Newman, Keshawn Haynes and Seth Green all were able to pry a few games to the Maroon and Garnet side in their singles matches, but neither could claim a set.
"We are looking forward to the home stretch of our season," Maryville head coach Doug Corbett said. "A lot of competitive matches and great opportunities are there for the rest of the season."
The Scots are back in action April 11 at Johnson in a 3 p.m. start. They host Berea on March 13.
