Beckett finishes 11th to lead MC in Zaxby's Open at Tusculum

The Maryville College Men's Cross-Country team placed ninth on Friday night in the Zaxby's Open.

The Scots saw junior Daniel Beckett finish just outside the Top 10, as the Oak Ridge native placed 11th in the Tusculum College race.

Beckett – an Oak Ridge, Tenn. native – finished the 5K course in stellar fashion, tallying a time of 17:12.8.

Tusculum College sophomore Will Cronin won the Pioneer's home race with a time of 16:34.1, while freshman Kyler Hodges followed his teammate just six seconds later.

Jonathan Keller of North Greenville (16:47.7), Tyler Bates of Milligan College (16:51.4) and Elijah Stewart of Southern Wesleyan (16:51.9) rounded out the top five in the race.

Tusculum College won the Zaxby's Open with an average time of 17:01.64, while Milligan College ranked second. The Buffaloes finished the 5K race in 17:16.02, as North Greenville finished third.

Maryville College's Richard Martin finished 63rd in the race with a time of 21:07.1, as Cooper Harrison placed 64th.

Harrison had a time of 21:16.9, while Jacob Schramm placed 70th with a time of 22:46.5. Parker Lee was 73rd at 23:34.5, as Andrew Amburn placed 75th.

Maryville College will look next to the Berea College Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 15. The race will be run in Berea, Ky.
