Scots finish 9th at Berea Invitational; Beckett places 11th overall

The Maryville College men's cross country program participated in an 8K challenge in Berea, Kentucky on Saturday afternoon. The Scots completed the Mike and Mary Kay Invitational in an average time of 33:43 placing 9th among 11 participating institutions.

 

Event host Berea College claimed the team title with an average time of 27:34. Individually, Berea's Logan McKenzie placed first with a time of 26:06.

 

Maryville's top performer was junior runner Daniel Beckett. The Oak Ridge native finished 11th among over 104 participants with a time of 28:14.9. Ryan Lay ran a strong race with a 57th place finish. He completed the course in 32:01.

 

Additional scorers for MC included: Richard Martin (79th, 34:11), Jacob Schramm (89th, 35:37), Andrew Amburn (95th, 38:34), Lee Parker (100th, 43:18), and Harrison Cooper (103rd, 46:54).

 

"We had some personal and season best times today," stated Maryville College Head Cross Country Coach Tyson Murphy. "We had several athletes overcome many obstacles and we are very proud of their output."

 

Maryville will now prepare to host the Maryville College Invitational on campus Saturday, September 29th.
