On the weekend, Bruce picked up a pair of wins and a save in four contests.
Maryville saw a trio of Scots go perfect in the box, as Reid Ballard led the way with a 3-for-3 day. The catcher had two RBI and a run scored, as Courtney Deck went 3-for-3 with a pair of runs. Allison Botts was 2-for-2 with an RBI for MC, as the squad picked up its sixth-straight victory.
Sunday's victory marks the fifth run-rule win for Maryville in its first 10 games, as the Scots have now scored 101 runs to average 10.1 runs per game.
Maryville scored each of its eight runs in the first two innings, as the Scots pushed five runs across in the first inning. Back-to-back singled by Christina White and Deck coupled with a hit-by-pitch for Jazmine Geary loaded the bases early. A wild pitch scored White from third, before Taylor Campbell added her 20th RBI of the season with a single to right. Deck scored on the play, as Ballard followed suit with an RBI single down the left-field line to score Geary for a 3-0 lead.
MC continued their offensive attack in the bottom of the second, as Deck led off the inning with a spinning bunt single just in front of the plate. She stole second before advancing to third on a wild pitch.
Geary walked, as the duo pulled off the double steal to score Deck. Campbell's 21st RBI came with a single through the left side to plate Geary, before Ballard's RBI double down the left-field line scored Campbell. The run gave MC an 8-0 advantage, as the Scots held on for the five-inning, run-rule victory.
Maryville (9-1) followed its three perfect performances with a 2-for-3 effort from Campbell, as she tabbed two RBI and a run scored. Geary had a pair of runs scored, while White went 1-for-3 with a run.
N.C. Wesleyan (5-7) saw Nichole Mooney tally the Battling Bishops only hit in the fourth inning.
