Goodloe Earns First-Team Notice
MARYVILLE – Amaya Goodloe's best season as a Maryville Scot was justly rewarded Thursday with her inclusion on the 2022 All-USA South Softball First Team.
Goodloe led the Scots and ranks sixth among the USA South batting leaders at .426. Postseason statistics are included, so that ranking is not yet final. She also ranks among the conference leaders in stolen bases with 20 – without a single caught stealing – and runs with 30.
She batted a sizzling .571 (24-for-42) in 16 league games, helping Maryville finish 10-6 and tie for third place in the West Division.
Joining Goodloe on the All-West Division First Team was pitcher Megan Ackerman. The sophomore lefty made 27 appearances in Maryville's 39 games, with 22 starts. She posted a 13-11 record and 2.31 ERA, with 114 strikeouts against just 23 walks in 148 and 1/3 innings. Her ERA in conference games only was 1.66.
Maryville landed two on the All-West Division Second Team in catcher Sara Koonce and shortstop and at-large selection Kaitlin Woodruff. Koonce was second to Goodloe with a .398 batting average and led the team with both a .709 slugging percentage and five home runs, the latter good for seventh in the USA South. Her 13 doubles are tied for first in the USA South entering this week's conference tournament, and she had 31 RBIs to rank among the league's top 10.
Woodruff batted .383 with a .543 slugging percentage that was second on the squad. She filled the stat sheet with 24 runs scored, eight doubles two triples and a home run to help push across 18 RBIs.
In addition to her All-USA South and All-West Division honors, Goodloe also was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team for the second consecutive year.
