Women’s Basketball Welcoming Nine

2022-23 Roster Rounding into Form

MARYVIVLLE – Maryville head coach Darrin Travillian announced this week the addition of nine incoming student-athletes for his women's basketball roster.

The newcomers arrive from Tennessee, Kentucky and Georgia, and the Scots head coach is excited about the prospects for his team in 2022-23.

"We can't wait to get this incoming class on campus," Maryville head coach Darrin Travillian said. "We were able to address every position on the floor with excellent players, great people, and engaged students. The common denominator among all these players is that they want to get here and get to work!

"They all expressed a desire to get better as players and to help us get back to the top of the conference. We are excited to bring them into the fold, and we are confident they will help us get better this fall. The start of the season might be months away, but this group has already started to connect with each other and our returning players."

South Pittsburg

South Pittsburg High School

Player Accolades and Statistics: Played five seasons at South Pittsburg High School for head coach Austin Towery … Scored 238 points senior season with 17 blocked shots … Two-year team leader in blocks and senior-year team leader in points, 3-pointers and free throws … 2021-22 All-District … Also played softball … Played five years of club basketball for South Pittsburg Lady Pirates under head coach Austin Towery.

Personal: Born in Chattanooga … Parents are Shawna and Gary Andry … Father, Gary, played basketball at Maryville College, graduating in 1989 … Two sisters and one brother.

Coach Travillian on Cassidy Andry: "Cassidy is a great addition to our squad. She has shot-making ability from deep, finishing ability off the bounce, and the size to post on the blocks. Cassidy has the versatility to guard multiple spots and the length to contest and block shots. Her willingness to put the ball on the floor and create will also set up her teammates for easy looks. We are excited to get Cassidy going in our system this fall."

Coach Travillian on Olivia Cathers: "Olivia is a great addition to our frontcourt. She has the versatility to play multiple positions and the ability finish both inside and outside. Olivia is also an excellent rebounder, as she is willing to grab boards in traffic, which will help us to finish plays defensively and initiate our offensive transition. She is a great teammate who is ready to transition to the college game."

Coach Travillian on Adaline Clouse: "We are thrilled to add Adaline to our squad. She has the skills and the rebounding ability to make an impact on the offensive interior. Defensively, her post presence should alter shots and limit post touches. We are excited about her potential to make plays for herself and her teammates through her scoring, screening and passing abilities."

Ella is also a competitor with a willingness to dive on the floor, to crash the boards, or to make a play for a teammate."

Coach Travillian on Belle Starnes: "We are thrilled to add Belle to our backcourt. She is a solid defender, and she crashes the boards on both ends. Belle has the versatility to play multiple perimeter spots on the offensive end. With her ability to get to the rim and to hit jumpers, she should get some great looks for herself and for her teammates. Belle is a player who can make game-changing plays in our system."

Jayden will certainly add a lot to our backcourt as she gets acclimated to the system."
