Tennis eliminated from USA South Tournament after 5-0 setback to Methodist

The Maryville College women's tennis program was eliminated from the USA South Tennis Tournament on Friday after falling to Methodist University by the score of 5-0.

 

In No. 1 Doubles, Maryville's Anastasia Dunn and Kayla Zimmerman fell to the Monarch's Taylor Jackson and Jill Lawrence by the score of 8-7 (7-3). Methodist's Aston Walker and Abby Caddick took No. 2 doubles from Carter Dickinson and McKennah Francis by the score of 8-1. Methodist swept the doubles challenges when Allison Himes and Sydni Lewis out-paced Savannah Bain and Kaleigh Basilio by the score of 8-4.

 

The Monarch's clinched the match on singles action after Ashton Walker defeated MC's McKennah Francis 6-0, 6-0 and Taylor Jackson defeated Carter Dickinson 6-0, 6-0. The remainder of the matches were unfinished due to conference protocol.

 

The Scots finished their season 8-9 overall.
