The Maryville College volleyball program completed their sweep of USA South action in Macon, Georgia on Saturday with a 3-1 victory over Agnes Scott College. The Scots rallied back to defeat the Scotties. MC lost the first set 26-24 and then earned the match victory with 25-18, 25-18, and 25-18 scores.
Maryville's offensive attack was paced by Brianne Sidner and Nia Haller at the net. Sidner deposited 22 kills on 42 attacks while Haller threw down 10 kills on 15 attacks. Saidee McDaniel directed the efficient offense with 31 assists. Her favorite targets were Sidner and Haller while Lauren Espinal and Rhianna Tyldesley combined to add 14 additional kills. The Scots' defense was paced by Rachel Kozemko's 21 digs with Kaitlyn Flickinger adding 20 digs. Espinal and Haller were tough at the net on defense with a combined seven block assists.
The Scots advance to 5-8 on the season and 2-1 in USA South challenges. Agnes Scott falls to 3-8 overall while losing their first USA South match.
After their sweep in historic Porter Gymnasium, Maryville will now prepare for Berea College in Berea, Kentucky on Tuesday evening for another USA South match.
