Scots rally to defeat Huntingdon 3-2 behind Bonee's triple-double effort

Trailing by two sets, the Maryville College volleyball team rallied for a thrilling 3-2 victory over USA South rival Huntingdon College on Friday afternoon in Maryville's Boydson Baird Gymnasium.

 

The Hawks (21-10, 11-2 USA South) took the initial pair of sets 25-21 and 25-23 before the Scots exploded for 25-19 and 25-22 match wins before closing the victory with a 15-13 final match victory.

 

Maryville's Meredith Bonee posted her second triple-double of the week with 19 kills, 21 assists, and 10 digs. Brianne Sidner recorded a double-double with15 kills and 17 digs. Arin Wyttenbach was strong at the net with a dozen kills. Taylor Youell directed an efficient offense with a match-high 37 assists. Allison Botts deposited a match-high six service aces. Defensively, Allison Botts returned a team-high 20 digs while MacKenzie Marcrum added 18 digs.

 

The win advances the Scots to 16-8 on the season and 10-3 in USA South challenges.

 

MC will complete the home USA South tri-match against Piedmont College at 7:30 p.m.
