The MC VolleyScots completed their run at the 2019 Roanoke Invitational with a strong 3-0 shutout victory over Hollins University by the scores of 25-15, 25-20, and 25-19 in Roanoke, Virginia on Saturday afternoon.
Maryville's offensive attack was once again efficient with Dejane Hester Taylor throwing down eight kills on 10 attacks while Meredith Bonee posted eight kills, 14 assists, and nine digs for a complete effort to preserve the road victory. Brianne Sidner added seven kills while Arin Wyttenbach, Rhianna Tyldesley, and Maggie Mathews each finished with six kills. Saidee McDaniel paced MC with 17 assists while Bonee's defensive efforts were supported by Mathews, Natalie Watts, and McDaniel who combined for 21 digs.
"I am proud of the way our team battled throughout this tournament," stated MC Head Volleyball Coach Kandis Schram. "We had the opportunity to see a variety of combinations and I am pleased with our depth. Our goal is to focus on our fundamentals and what it means to be a Scot! The winning will happen if we pay attention to our foundation of fundamentals."
For her complete weekend at the net, Dejane Hester-Taylor was named to the All-Tournament team.
The Scots (4-3) will prepare to challenge Guilford, Salem, and Peace in the Guilford College Invitational next weekend in North Carolina.
